See How They Run by Ally Carter Review

See How They Run is the second book in Ally Carter's Embassy Row series (the first book is All Fall Down). To often the sequel is never as good as the first, but this is definitely an exception to that rule. I can't choose between the two!!

So, my thoughts (fair warning: I read this a couple months ago, and might be a little hazy on the details):

The whole Alexei situation was intriguing. Did he or did he not kill Spence? He certainly didn't help his case by his actions afterwards.

I love the fact that Ally Carter tries to build up the world of the fake Adria. It's (also fake) history is fascinating (it helps that I'm a  huge history-nerd in the first place)! I especially like the origin story behind the founding of their country with the knights and the story behind their two-week festival (sorry, the name escapes me). Poor royal family! Anyway, always appreciate cool origin stories like that.

As for the Order, I love the idea of an secret society in general, but especially one that's dedicated to protecting their country and preserving their history. It might be used a lot, but I'm a sucker for it. To be honest, I didn't really care about the feminist edge of it, but it didn't matter. However, I don't trust this Order (or, secret lady librarian assassins," as Lila called them). They didn't seem as bad in the end as they were portrayed to seem in the middle, but I'm not sure. What about you?

Noah is probably my favorite character. I really feel for him throughout this novel. It was also very interesting to meet Jake himself. Maybe we'll get to meet Grace's dad in the next book?

Now, of course, we come to Grace herself. The twist at the end was the best part! Who knew she was the treasure all along? I think she beats up on herself too much, though that's no one's fault but her own. She seems to be better overall than she was in the last book, though.

Sorry for the skimpy details! I promise that future reviews will have many more details! If I remembered more, I would add more! I can't wait until the next one! Does anyone know the title and/or have even a general idea of the expected release date (besides sometime next year)?

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this book!! I even think that boys would enjoy it. Besides a couple of kisses and a female first-person narrator (Grace), this really isn't too girly! In terms of listing it among Ally Carter's other two series, I would have this at a current tie with Gallagher Girls and above Heist Society (though not by much, I assure you!).

What did you think of the novel, assuming you read it? If you haven't read it, does my review make it sound intriguing? Please leave a comment or contact me with your thoughts!
